Eye Witness Report - Mary.

My name is Mary. Last Thursday night the government held a hasty trial and condemned Jesus to die by crucifixion. On Friday as he was put to death, even the sun blacked out for hours, causing us great fear. He was a good man and didn't deserve to die like that. There were many things he said that I didn't understand, but I knew in my heart that what he was saying was true. There are many things that I still don't understand, but I believe it. God proved many times that this was a true prophet.

Last Sunday I was feeling very depressed, as I made my way to the tomb to pray. I was shocked to find the guards had gone and the stone that covered the entrance had been rolled away. I ran to tell Peter and John, and they came back to the tomb with me. After they went home, I fell on my knees at the tomb entrance and cried. Then I saw two men in shining clothes, sitting in the tomb. They asked me why I was crying. “They have taken away my lord.” I replied. I then turned to leave. I was sure someone must have stolen him away. I felt as if my whole world had caved in around me. Soon I was aware of a man nearby. I thought he was the gardener and I begged to be allowed to take his body away. That's when He spoke my name, and I knew it was Him. No one can speak like Him. He said he was risen as He had told us, I remembered the things He said to us before. I was so thrilled that God would not permit death to hold Him. I can't stop rejoicing and talking about him. I know that He is indeed the Messiah. What a victory. Praise the Lord.

Roman Soldier's Report.

I can't give you my name. If I did, the Governor would put me to death. I was assigned to cary out the crucifixion last Friday, and then to do guard duty on the tomb. I was on the early morning shift on sunday morning, when there was an earthquake. The stone sealing the tomb broke the metal pins securing it and it rolled away from the doorway. Two men in shining clothes sat on the stone. All of us fell to the ground as a great fear came upon us. My heart skipped a beat at the sight of them. We ran to the city and told these things to our commanders. They told us to say we fell asleep, and that His followers came and stole the body. I know it wasn’t true, but they paid us lots of money to keep quiet.

Peter's Report.

I felt so bad, and I wept bitterly after denying Him. We had all felt so inspired by the things he said, and believed that he would take over the country and set up his kingdom. The Romans could all go back to their own places. But then He was dead and all our hopes were lost. On Sunday morning, Mary came saying the stone had been rolled away. John and I ran to the tomb. He got there first but didn’t go in. When I got there, I went in and found the burial clothes folded neatly, but didn’t see anybody. Later that day He appeared to us in the room, telling us to not be afraid. It was then I knew this was indeed the Messiah and that nothing is impossible with God.

Cleopas's Report

My friend and I had been in Jerusalem for the feast. As followers of Jesus, we had witnessed the events that occurred over the last few days, when he was put to death. As we were returning from Jerusalem a man joined us as we walked. He asked us why we were so sad and depressed. We thought he must have been a stranger as all Jerusalem knew what had happened. He told us of the scriptures, how that Christ must suffer these things, and what it would achieve. We invited Him to stay with us, where he gave thanks and broke bread like He always did. It was then that we realised that we had been talking to Him, and why our hears burned as he share the word of God with us. We were so excited that He was alive that we went all the way back to Jerusalem to tell Peter and the others. “He is alive.”
