Revelation 16:16,
And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

Hollywood has given us the image of Armageddon as the total anihilation of the Earth. But is this true?.

The word Armageddon is derived from two greek words "har" meaning a hill or mountain, and Meggido, a place in Israel. This is where the final battle between Christ's army and the army of the anti-christ takes place.

While it is the defeat of the Antichrist, and his armies, it is not the complete anihilation of the Earth. There is still to be a thousand year Reign of Christ, called the Millenium. Satan will be bound during this period, and so on Earth there will be peace.

International Force lays seige to Jerusalem.

Zechariah 12:2
Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.

Joel 3:1-2

For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

An International Force will land on the beaches of Israel, in an attempt to liberate the city of Jerusalem. The Bible refers to "all nations". It is my opinion, that this does not mean "everyone on Earth", it means a United Nations Force, which represent "all nations".

The times of the Gentiles.

Jesus said in Luke 21:24,
"Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled."

It is clear to us that we live in these times, that Jesus talked about.

Christ reveals Himself to the Jews.

Zechariah 12:10-11,
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.

This occurs at the time Christ reveals himself to the Jews. The story of Joseph in the Bible, is a type, of this event. He puts everyone out of his presence, and reveals himself to his brethren.

Romans 11:26-27,
And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

At the end of the Millenium, Satan is loosed, and the battle of "Gog and Magog" occurs.

For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
